"The iphone 4 supports tethering"

And you have to pay GayT&T $20 a month for it. I can jailbreak my 3GS and get tethering for free. Also, non-shit multitasking. And backgrounds have been around since the days of OS 1.x, IIRC.

When you track down real names, science-trained wikipedia admins tend to be late-30ish to 40ish PhD's on their third or forth post-doc. E.g., <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Beetstra" title="Beetstra" rel="nofollow">Beetstra</a>. Others teach a course or two at the local community college. Might make 1200-1500 euro's a month until the grant runs out and they have to move on. Once in this career rut, it is hard to move up. The real underside of academia. Unfortunately, such circumstances can generate a certain proletarian resentment and a lot of displaced anger.

There was a story about a PT Cruiser recall that I heard on the radio. This was several years ago, but rental company Enterprise rented these two teenage girls a <b>recalled</b> PT cruiser. It had been recalled because of engine problems (?). So as the girls were driving along a highway, the engine problems became reality. What happened was that the engine caught on fire. The two girls inside freaked out so the girl who was the driver tried to swerve into the far left lane. They hit a semi truck and the whole PT cruiser was incinerated in the blink of an eye.

Ckatz is a mental case. She vandalizes other people's talk page. For an administrator this is highway robbery. The only way to tackle her is to open a complain at ANI and all the people troubled by her should report their troubles on it.

yes! let's have a petition to get the ckatz bitchz off the administrators list! she (i assume it's a she becoz someone used 'she' earlier on) put malicious warnings and threatens to have my innocent and neutral-point-of-view article deleted!

This article has multiple issues. Please help improve the article or discuss these issues on the talk page.

    * It needs additional references or sources for verification. Tagged since April 2010. [plenty of references in there!]

    * The notability of this article's subject is in question. If notability cannot be established, it may be listed for deletion or removed. Tagged since April 2010. [everything is true and is notable. why delete?!?]

    * It is written like an advertisement and needs to be rewritten from a neutral point of view. Tagged since April 2010. [UNTRUE!]

    * It may require general cleanup to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. Tagged since April 2010.

    * It may have been edited by a person who has a conflict of interest with the subject matter. Tagged since April 2010.

I don't know what to say about the reasons she wants to get my page deleted. when i tried to delete her comments she adds them back and says 'Please stop removing unaddressed templates'. what?! i wrote her emails, twice, but never got a respond. i'm at my wits ends.

can anyone help me?

This is outrageous... Wikipedia admins banned access to media files stored on 4shared.com and enacted a little thing called OVERSIGHT (which is just a fancy word for 'The removal of information and its PERMANENT deletion from Wikipedia and its page history for NO REASON). Wikipedia admins hate that good site because it allows people to download great media (music, games, etc.) for free without worry of hassle because it's owned by the user who uploads it. My friend actually circumvented the blacklisting of 4shared.com by inserting tags into the url, but that pissed off admins and they blocked that because he was smart enough to get around the bugs on Wikipedia and prove Wiki admins are stupid.

Hey, just to rile the admins up, add tags to other blacklisted urls on wikipedia and insert those into Wikipedia articles. It'll blow admins' minds. Especially that nutjob admin Gogo Dodo. Another admin (the aptly-named 'Stifle', http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Stifle) is the bane of many good Wikipedians' Wiki-presence.

This is outrageous… Wikipedia admins banned access to media files stored on 4shared.com and enacted a little thing called OVERSIGHT (which is just a fancy word for ‘The removal of information and its PERMANENT deletion from Wikipedia and its page history for NO REASON). Wikipedia admins hate that good site because it allows people to download great media (music, games, etc.) for free without worry of hassle because it’s owned by the user who uploads it. My friend actually circumvented the blacklisting of 4shared.com by inserting tags into the url, but that pissed off admins and they blocked that because he was smart enough to get around the bugs on Wikipedia and prove Wiki admins are stupid.

I just got my wiki banishment today. Basically one user icewoman didn't like my edits and told on me to an admin named animate. Well animate wasted no time giving me my "final warning", which was my only warning. I had a little fun on my talk page with it, I figured "who reads the talk pages of other users anyway", and then another admin shows up today telling me that not only could they ban me from posting on articles, but my talk page "privileges" could be taken away as well. I was like seriously? These people have no lives at all. I responded, and basically I got a ban from yet another admin because I wouldn't agree that they were right and I was wrong. Well screw that! and screw them too! I, unlike them, have life outside wikipedia.

I can tell about this administrator Ckatz. She is a complete mental case, very vindictive and has her own agenda to hoist. She trolls the wiki and removes links and materials which has been there for ages just because she does not like you. It has nothing to do with the matter of the subject - just a hate removal. I think we should all get together to remove such administrators. It is not good for the health of Wiki or theirs! It seems she spends 14-18 hours on the wiki!

I totally agree about the fascist administrators on Wikipedia. My first experience was about a year ago. Shortly after getting my user name, I had created an article about a fairly well-known midwestern rock band of the 1970s. One day, last September I found it simply "deleted", by some jerk of an administrator, named "Brianyoumans", hailing from the U.K. of all things!

I then realized that he had also changed an addition I had made to the "THX1138" article, as well as posted a criticism of my Talk page. When I questioned why he would delete an article about which he could have no practical knowledge, he deleted my name from the list of announcers at the article about the radio station I work at, with the notation, that he did not believe I was a real person! When I called him on that, he promptly had me blocked indefinitely.

OK, I let that go, although I have to tell you, it pissed me off mightily; but, as some folks have said, what can you do?

So, earlier this year, in accordance with their own "clean start" policy, I started a new screen name, and, trying to be really careful about NOT violating any policies, went about my merry way. A couple of weeks ago however, I had a "page watch" notice, that an article I had originally authored about another band, and to which I had uploaded an old promo photo of the band, had been changed. When I looked, I noted that the promo photo had been deleted, not just from the website, but from the entire Wiki as well. No prior notification, no chance to fix whatever perceived errors this particular editor had problems with; just gone.

After I determined that the photo DID comply with the "fair use" policies, I re-loaded it, and provided a "non-free usage" box, which I actually copied and modified, from another band's article. All Ok? Not quite. After a couple of weeks, I get a notification that this same clown has proposed deleting the photo again, this time, because I had identified it as a photo from a 45rpm sleeve, instead of specifically as a "promotion photograph" - although, as with many groups of the 1960s, it actually served both functions. I have two separate posters with this same photo on it, I just choose to scan the 45 sleeve, because it was easier. I explained that to him, and modified the usage box - still not good enough. He went ahead and deleted it, this time with the added notation, that "it was originally identified as a record cover". Then, he began harassing me, by reverting other edits that I had made for other articles, and posting a note on my talk page, that said he was insulted by the fact that I had checked the "revert vandalism" button, when I re-loaded the photo. I responded to his talk page, and told him, politely, that I did, in fact, consider that sort of abrupt deletion to be vandalism.

In response, he blocked my editing access, "indefinitely", which I guess means forever. Although I attempted to appeal, since he had somehow gone and edited and deleted the history log of the comments which I had actually made on his talk page, I had no proof that I hadn't. I didn't know that the page history could be altered and deleted like that, but apparently administrators have all sorts of powers.

I was going to let it go, but then, he decided to escalate the situation, by removing my ability to send emails or even edit my own talk page, and finally. His final step was to change the block rationale on my page to being that my current user name, was a "sock puppet" of my former one, even though I had been very careful to completely abandon the old user name, and only use the new one.

He made one mistake tho... unlike most of these cases, where the jerk is half a continent or world away, this putz is a student at a public college, located right down the road from the station I work at. I even know his first name, his major and his hobbies. I have a feeling, that "Tedder", may someday soon be going to discover another meaning to the term "sock puppet"!

hmmm... then I guess I heard you wrong. It must be Firefox's fault for not recognizing CaCert's security certificate.

At any rate, someone messed up and this is why it's happening.

You obviously don't understand SSL. SSL takes any old certificate, sends it to the browser. The problem is that CAcert doesn't have their root certificate included with Firefox or such. There is no difference between say a SSL certificate that I buy from say, VeriSign (and dump tons of money into it) or one I get for FREE with unlimited domains covered per certificate, and wildcards domains (*.theoks.net, etc.).

CAcert makes great certificates at full 256-bit encryption, and I will continue to use CAcert for my SSL, no matter how you complain.

Actually it's because we are a nonprofit and are looking for funding for an audit so that we can get included in the browsers. We are not "making crappy certificates".

And yes, I am the former President of CAcert. I am now just a regular board member.

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps you suck at editing? perhaps your edits are wrong or are detracting from the quality of the articles?

"I have almost stopped editing on Wikipedia because I can’t do so peacefully."

I think that's what their whole point was... it sounds like you were fucking up Wikipedia and some good admins were able to stop you.

I fully agree with Melissa. I think administrators like Ckatz only exist to harass editors. I have a feeling that lots of administrators need professional psychiatric help. Thus the best thing is to not edit anymore on the Wiki and let it die its natural death since who needs enemies when wiki has administrator like Ckatz.

Data does not have mass because data is a term not an actual piece of matter. Data is the term used to describe electron patterns on a Hard drive disks platter. When you get new data onto the HDD there is no new entry of matter but instead electricity will change the flow of electrons.

I have had so much experience with dealing with admins, but never like yours (melissa). You seem to be dealing with Hitler himself if not double Hitler. The best you can do to get those mentally insane admins off your back is to block them from accessing your other wikis and website. The admins are fools and have no right to ruin your bisness.

Absolutely agree with everything that has been said. My news magazine is being attacked right this very minute by 3 admins (one in Canada, one in Mexico, and one in Australia). I have had links on many wikis and the one in Canada called Ckatz just decided earlier today that he would take all of them off just as a hobby, I guess. We are the media outlet in my city and he even too my name off of the media portion of the city wiki that my editor wrote! I do a lot of celebrity interviews and the publicists or the celebrities themselves post the links to their interviews and my site on their own wikis... well these fools have removed all of them. They have listed my site as a "spammer" and they keep calling my host to get us taken down. They are ruining my business - a business we have been working hard on for the past two years.

I have written complaint emails and called until I'm blue in the face and no one will do anything about it. They all take up for each other.

I beg to differ. The 1s and 0s are matter because they are metal impressions on a hard drive. If you had a sensetive enough scale, the two hard drives would weigh differently. Also, twhat about the electricity flowing through the internet via ethernet and fiber optics? Those are electrons. I should pat myself on the back because I just saved the day...I think...

I'm writing here as a KSD student, and I readily support the teachers strike. Actually, 74% of teachers voted for the strike to continue, and okay, fines are no big deal, but they are seeking amnesty from the judge, it can go on their records, but the fines would be rather costly, and they're not going to seriously put thousands of teachers in jail. Now to the real crux of this matter. They really should strike, teachers work on 5-10 year contracts, depending on how long they're willing to stay and they were forced into their previous one. Now happens to be the only opening for teachers to ask for a much better contract, it's not like they've been plotting to do a strike when the recession it, it was just very untimely, and if they didn't do it now, they'd have to put up with another 5-10 years of a ridiculous contract. We don't give teachers the respect they deserve. How can you deny them a better contract, with better pay and smaller class sizes, when it could do nothing but benefit you? On the small matter of a small pay raise, is it really that much to ask, when they have such an important responsibility laid on their shoulders?

Yes a multitude of proposals that didn't even come close to the teachers minimum requirements. Look at other states and how much better they're doing with class sizes, and pay raises. If you're talking about stubborn, then Vargas would be the perfect example. It would be so simple just to accept the proposition made by the Kent Educators Association (KEA). Also, we have millions upon millions in spare money to use for the plan, and we'd still have plenty rainy day funds ( The Rainy Day Fund is what the KSD calls this back up reserve of cash ). Why seek and alternative when the real deal is readily in your grasp?

Vargas acted like a child, not an adult, when he called a surprise press conference that made this make a turn for the worse, and when he took the KEA to court. All he had to do was act as a civilized adult, and accept the plan. And if you think the recession is bad, it's really getting better, it's still too early to say, but if you look at our economy compared to when it first hit, it's taking a turn for the better, and unless something truly terrible happens, we'll be well along our way to recovery. Why you ask, that they continue to strike? Because they're not cowards, they're not going to give up for something they really believe in, and are willing to fight for it. You complain of like being boring, theres plenty of things you could do, I'm sure. For a strike like this to be illegal is ridiculous, i mean, I see the sense of it, but we can always make it up in breaks, Do you really need 2 weeks of breaks at a time? we could skip a few, we have too much break time during the school year as it is.

This strike calls as a valiant effort by the teachers, and the many students and parents that support them. School absolutely will start soon, if only our foolish superintendent would as so kindly please accept the KEA requirements of the contract. Our distinguished educators have spent hours and hours in blistering heat and rain for a truly honorable cause, would you have that dedication to your students and fellow city folk?

I’m writing here as a KSD student, and I readily support the teachers strike. Actually, 74% of teachers voted for the strike to continue, and okay, fines are no big deal, but they are seeking amnesty from the judge, it can go on their records, but the fines would be rather costly, and they’re not going to seriously put thousands of teachers in jail. Now to the real crux of this matter. They really should strike, teachers work on 5-10 year contracts, depending on how long they’re willing to stay and they were forced into their previous one. Now happens to be the only opening for teachers to ask for a much better contract, it’s not like they’ve been plotting to do a strike when the recession it, it was just very untimely, and if they didn’t do it now, they’d have to put up with another 5-10 years of a ridiculous contract. We don’t give teachers the respect they deserve. How can you deny them a better contract, with better pay and smaller class sizes, when it could do nothing but benefit you? On the small matter of a small pay raise, is it really that much to ask, when they have such an important responsibility laid on their shoulders?

Yes a multitude of proposals that didn’t even come close to the teachers minimum requirements. Look at other states and how much better they’re doing with class sizes, and pay raises. If you’re talking about stubborn, then Vargas would be the perfect example. It would be so simple just to accept the proposition made by the Kent Educators Association (KEA). Also, we have millions upon millions in spare money to use for the plan, and we’d still have plenty rainy day funds ( The Rainy Day Fund is what the KSD calls this back up reserve of cash ). Why seek and alternative when the real deal is readily in your grasp?

Vargas acted like a child, not an adult, when he called a surprise press conference that made this make a turn for the worse, and when he took the KEA to court. All he had to do was act as a civilized adult, and accept the plan.
yes, wikipedia administartors and their stooges suck.theres is this user on wikipedia english by the main of C21K.he basically edits articles related to karnataka and ,a state in india and about kannada people.he is blatant chauvanist and repeatledly vandalises pages related to non kannada minorities of the indian state of karnataka and questions sources even from third party observers .he is a stooge of a administrator named moonriddengirl, who bans users on the simplest excuse that they have put unsourced material.Wikipedia is full of false information especially pages like kannadiga lingayatism etc.Wikipedia administrators spend all thier time stalking people. Please do not trust information on wikipedia.it is largely manipulated and untrue.though there are a few good contributors.

I am fully aware of these tools. They were purposely created by admins to stalk people, as well as follow up on vandals. Apparently these tools can be used to stalk people, as long as you follow the user fourteen hours a day, which I've seen some admins do. They literally watch every single edit you make, which makes up a large bit of their life.

There's quite a few tools to "stalk" people on MediaWiki sites.

First of all, there's Special:Contributions/Username, which will also produce a RSS feed for tools to parse it.

Second, Administrators have no lives if they're wandering around looking to complain about crap.

That's why I run OKSW. =)

Darren- You're always saying something like that. I don't get why you're mindset is so uptight and one-sided. If Apple had a 90% market share you'd be saying the same thing.

The reason is that big corporations have no real reason to upgrade, so they stick with IE6. And besides, many people think that IE is the internet, and if you even change the look of the icon they'll be like "NOOOOO! MY INTERNET!"

WP-SpamFree is pretty good, though it's <a href="http://www.bad-behavior.ioerror.us/2008/07/08/wp-spamfree/" rel="nofollow">not right for some people and has some issues of its own</a>.

Personally I use <a href="http://www.bad-behavior.ioerror.us/" rel="nofollow">Bad Behavior</a>. I also <em>wrote</em> it. <a href="https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=511841" rel="nofollow">Fedora packages</a> are available, too. (They need a sponsor! Hint hint.)

Regardless of what eventually gets packaged in Fedora, remember that no one spam solution is right for everyone. Except, of course, for all spammers to be sent to the bottom of the ocean. :)

That must have been really tiring and fat burning. I've hiked a very torturous trail before. On the top of the trail was a mailbox. When I hiked back down, my legs were sore all the way.

Safari 3.2.1 should get about a 72, and a WebKit nightly under Safari's hood makes it get 100. Opera is lagging behind.

That's even more controversial to what I've heard. My nerd friend (no offense) says that Safari got a 20 or so on the acid3 test, a test for browser compatibility (?). I don't think Opera's lagging behind other browsers, though; I've tried it for a week and a half and it actually seems faster. The only downside is that super-advanced status bar in the address bar, which makes Opera seem slower.

The latest nightly from the 1.9.1 branch (Firefox 3.1) has the version string 3.1b3pre, so expect Firefox 3.1 soon. Firefox 3.1 adds a new JIT compiler for JavaScript, and builtin support of playing Ogg/Theora and Ogg/Vorbis files. Opera lags behind a lot. The fastest browser you will find will be Safari with a nightly build of WebKit, which has SquirrelFish Extreme.

You are probably right. Opera 10 actually has a few display errors as mentioned above. On Vista, the sidebar is black and you can't see anything. Besides, Firefox 3.1 isn't out yet as of December 22, 2008. Right now, I am using Opera 9.6 and my friend claims that "it is the fastest browser".

I am trying out Opera 10.0 (alpha) as I speak. It's quite amazing that it can handle the snowflakes on this page WAY better than Firefox can. It's also 15 to 20 percent faster.

The thing I don't like about Opera is that every time I scroll down to the bottom of a page, there's a black line. There is also a black border around the search box.

I may end up using Opera instead.

the white area on your blog makes it seem that the snow disappears. what you should do is change it to a grayish color (web-safe, of course).

you should also make the snow pile up on the "dedicated snow page". What would be really funny is that when the snow piles to the top of the screen, you should somehow make it come out the monitor or screen of whoever is viewing it :D . I'm just making this up.

The snow on your blog just makes it so much slower. Just what we needed :(

I got three inches of snow. I bet that your blog will get so covered in digital snow that it will freeze over.

At our place, there's a huge hill. Last year, my dad drove down it and his car spun 720 degrees out of control. He was lucky not to crash.

It seems like your on your website. Can you give the link to that image (or your FAILED website?)

I have never heard of an iPod Touch "accidentally" saving a screenshot. How did this happen, where did you find it, and how did you upload it?

Welcome, eggbertx. I see that this is your first post. My comment:

I have heard reports that when the police tried to stop the crowd, it took them ten minutes. Also, other employees had to climb onto the vending machines to escape the puddle of customers.

See, long lines and sold out stuff is why you just get everything electronic from newegg. I got $150 off a $300 PSU. Even when they don't have sales, they tend to have better prices. (Their normal sales were better than Fry's black friday prices on a lot of stuff).

Well, the only problem I have had with 8.10 was the slowness. Multiple monitors are easy to configure, wifi configuration and selection is easier, and it just feels better overall. I still prefer the hardy default background though.

So anyway, if you want to do a USB install and not have it be slow, pull up some instructions for an 8.04 persistent USB install.

I'll remove the Archives widget if it makes you feel better. Also, the background having a fixed position doesn't make it slower. Not on my machines. I'm using latest versions of Firefox (on my mac I use a nightly, but on Ubuntu I use release versions).

Windows is just fine! If you treat it right, it will work for you. The only reason you think it sucks is because you have a negative attitude to it and intentionally try to make your Windows do something it can't (something even a mac can't do well, like open sixty applications at once).

there is a navbar in both of the themes. The theme I am currently viewing is metallic in composition with a grey background and white foreground. The pop-up navbar really slows down browsing, and has the words "SUBSCRIBE", "ADMIN", and "SEARCH".

In the other theme with a Halo screenshot, the navbar allows you to navigate between adjacent articles.

I'd like to comment that the reCaptcha thing was messed up when I forgot to enter the words in the field. It was placed in the middle, and the "RECENT POSTS" section was blocking it. The publish button was also in the wrong place. Another sign that this blog needs massive improvement.

Are you sure you're looking at the current theme? The navbar that "pops up" is actually not in this theme. It's in K2.

Joomla is actually a content management system.

About the login link, I can move it into the navbar with the subscribe and admin links.

Considering that Opera has a bulit-in theme catalogue, I guess you could be right. In my opinion, I like Firefox's customization better, altough I'd like to point out that you can search addons from the Addons window in Firefox.

I downloaded Opera 9.6 for trial on my PPC Mac (10.4.8), and it turns out Opera gets an 85 on the acid3 test. It's actually better than Firefox which got a 77/100.

For me, Opera 9.6 looks no different from Opera 9.5. They probably just fixed a few bugs.

For now, I'll stick with my Firefox 3.0 browser. They say it has the best security.

Remember that the whole point of the Acid3 test is to test the browser for EXACT conformation to the W3C's standards. It needs no changing. It conforms to some of the very subtle things of the standard, those that the W3C validator will not be able to detect, and only human eyes can see. Browsers are supposed to conform exactly to those standards.

Firefox 3 should get a 71, as that was where the progress was cut off (Firefox 3 had to ship). Firefox 3.1 is supposed to pass Acid3 (only 7 points more).

Google Chrome, being based on WebKit, which was the first rendering engine to fully and completely pass Acid3 (including speed, but they did at one point cheat, but I don't know if they still do) is bound to get a higher score than Firefox 3.

The next Google Chrome release is highly likely to completely pass Acid3, after a few merges with WebKit trunk.

So currently, the only released rendering engine to pass Acid3 is WebKit (Opera 9.6 does not pass Acid3, despite all the hype about Opera being the first, but that was a poorly hacked up version), with Gecko 1.9.1 (Firefox 3.1) not far away.

Furthermore, Google Chrome got a higher score then Firefox on the Acid3 test (which needs a serious reform). Mozilla's Minefield browser got a 93 (highest score) and no one would be surprised to find out that IE7 got a 13.

But in my opinion, Google Chrome sucks so bad it would have given IE7 a pretty dang high score.

The only browser in hell that can make IE seem good.

I have seen the new macs. Just one hint of advice: If the new macs are selling for $999.99, don't get those ones, they aren't much better. Your best bet is to get the ones that cost $1299.99 or up.

I have not yet tried Opera 9.6, but as far as I am aware, Opera sucks like crap. It's bloated, has no features, and is notoriously difficult to customize. It's just not user-friendly.
